Wrist and Hand Conditions and Treatments
Our Stem Cell Clinics come across a wide variety of hand and wrist injuries which patients need help with. We assess each patient thoroughly, and look to apply the appropriate regenerative treatments to address the underlying condition and the root cause of the pain and discomfort they are experiencing. Conditions that we commonly treat include:
- Hand arthritis and joint pains
- Triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears;
- Carpal tunnel syndrome; and
- Tendon injuries.
In each case, the use of stem cell therapy, often in combination with other regenerative treatments such as PRP and prolotherapy for maximum impact, stimulates the patient’s body to create new cells which will adapt to repair the damaged tissues and cells present. In the case of stem cell therapy and PRP therapy, we would look to harvest stem cells and platelets respectively from the patient and during the same procedure, prepare and inject these into the area of damaged tissue. Prolotherapy does not require a harvesting procedure, but also involves injections being administered to the affected site.
In the case of regenerative procedures, we mimic the body’s normal healing process and therefore the effects of the treatment are not immediately noticeable, but would become so over time. We would typically expect a noticeable reduction in pain and discomfort resulting from the presented tissue damage, within 3 to 6 weeks of the procedure, with this effect continuing over the following weeks and months. Our aim is always to achieve complete elimination of the underlying damage and therefore the discomfort and pain resulting from it.
